For parents, they simply do a free search by entering their zip code. BabySitters.com presents a summary of the sitter's in that zip code and in the surrounding areas.
From the search results, a parent selects a sitter's profile to view all of the information the babysitter has provided about their level of childcare experience, typical times that they are available, age, gender, references, and comments that the babysitter has included.
The parent can then subscribe to BabySitters.com if they find one or more sitters that they would like to interview. Once the subscription fee is paid, the parent has access to contact any sitter on the site.
Parents with a paid subscription can also post jobs on the site. Sitters search the job postings in the same manner as a parent searches for a sitter.
How BabySitters.com Works for Parents
For sitters, we make the process of creating a profile on BabySitters.com quick and easy. Sitters select a membership plan -- currently, BabySitters.com offers a free plan and a premium plan. The sitter then creates their profile by walking through a wizard on the site.
The sitter agrees to the Babysitter Pledge, pledging to always respond to parents and show up on time to scheduled appointments. The system then requires the sitter to verify their email address. Once the email address is verified, the profile is reviewed by a BabySitters.com editor and then published to the site.
In addition to having a profile, any sitter can search through the jobs that are posted by parents.
